The Test Consultant

Hi there! I’m Laura, the face behind the Test Consultant. I started teaching standardized tests two decades ago before graduate school teaching GMAT, MCAT, and SAT at a major test prep company. Since then I’ve taught consistently, including at an elite test prep company at which I received the global ’Teacher of the Year’ award. I have traveled all over the world to teach, and have both trained other instructors and developed teaching material and practice tests for multiple companies. I have also worked directly with a business school to help bring up the scores of outstanding applicants whose scores were lower than desired.

I long ago became too experienced to work for anyone else, but I couldn't imagine walking away and not having the rewards of teaching and the joy of helping my students reach their goals in my life. Thus, I created The Test Consultant as a way to connect directly to my students.

I chose the name 'The Test Consultant' because it better reflects the unique product I offer. It is not difficult to find a tutor who has done well on the test and can teach you how to solve some tricky problems. The way that tutor solves the problems may or may not be optimized for best use and extensability on the GMAT, but they can lead you to a correct answer for that problem. It is harder to find a tutor who can teach problem solving in a way that will also help you improve at related problems and problem solving in general. And it is rare to find someone who can quickly look over your past work and identify what in your approach and knowledge is most holding back your score. I have that ability, and can often fix problems with approach on the spot, as well as set prioritization of topics for future study. I offer packages of as little as two hours for those who primarily need an expert to come in to quickly triage their test, and packages of more hours for those who would like further help in executing strategy or succesfully solving different problem types.
